Master’s, Internship and Research Fellowships in the field of Conservation research for the applicants of India to Study Abroad 2012

Eligibility:
Each activity is intended to have an explicit conservation focus, with an emphasis on clear on-ground conservation benefits. Successful applicants will ordinarily hold a Bachelor’s degree (in any discipline) and be below the age of 30 on the on the first of July in the year of application. Applicants must hold Indian nationality and be resident in India at the time of applying.

Fellowships Programs Description: The Ravi Sankaran Fellowship Program can help. This Program has been set up in memory of the late Dr. Ravi Sankaran who followed up his detailed field studies of wild species with innovative projects to conserve their populations. Fellowship recipients will receive a stipend, travel funds and an amount covering course fees (where relevant). The Small Grants activity usually provides funding up to a maximum of Rs 200,000 per year.

Scholarship Description: The European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere awards several postdoctoral fellowships each year. The goal of these fellowships is to offer young outstanding scientists opportunities and facilities to enhance their research programmes in close contact with the activities and staff at one of the world’s foremost observatories. In Garching, the fellowships start with an initial contract of one year followed by a two-year extension (3 years total). The ESO Headquarters in Garching near Munich, Germany, are situated in one of the most active research areas in Europe and have among the highest concentrations of astronomers. ESO offices are adjacent to the Max-Planck- Institutes for Astrophysics and for Extraterrestrial Physics and only a few kilometres away from the Observatory of the Ludwig-Maximilian University. Additionally, ESO participates in the newly formed Excellence Cluster on Astrophysics on the Garching Campus, which brings together nearly 200 scientists to explore the origin and structure of the Universe. Consequently, ESO fellows in Garching have many opportunities to interact and collaborate with astronomers at neighbouring institutes.

Scholarship Description: he Health Research Council of New Zealand invests in public good research on behalf of the New Zealand Crown. Fellowships Programs Description: The candidates hold a doctorate or at least a Master’s degree. They are eligible during the ten-year period following the successful completion of their PhD or MA degree. Extensions to the ten-year rule are possible in principle in case of exceptional circumstances which should be explained in the application and supporting documents are required. The European Fellowship holders pursue a period of research in Japan whereas the Japanese Fellows do their research at host institutions in Europe. The Fellowships are awarded for periods of minimum three months and maximum one year.
